The Jay I. Kislak Collection at the Library of Congress contains over 3000

FamilySearch (Genealogical Society of Utah) microfilmed the 1930 Mexico Natl. Census in the Mexico Natl. Archives back in the 1960s. They filmed everything that the archives had, which unfortunately wasn't everything. As for Aguascalientes the municipios: Aguascalientes, Calvillo, and Jesus Maria were 'lost' at the time of the microfilming. FamilySearch has not gone back to the Natl. archives to determine if the 'lost' municipios were ever found. You may want to inquire with them to see.

The reason why you do not see the 1930 Census for Aguas is because the census has not been scanned yet. If I remember correctly, I think that is presumed to be lost.

Hello Everyone!

I have been a member of El Ranchos since the summer but I have never written an Intro with a list of names and dates so I decided to do it and see if I have any luck and someone recognizes someone. Also I wanted to ask the group a couple of questions. I live in Canada so at my Family Centre they seem not to be able to help me out. Linda had answered an inquiry of mine of how to see civil records mentioning to ask the centre but they seem not to know. The civil records, Aguascalientes, Ojuelos, Jalisco, Pinos, Zacatecas, I would want to see have to do with Aurelio Martinez, my grandfather who was a widower and had a son. I am completely stumped, I can not find the marriage or the birth of the son. His dates are mentioned in the Martinez Davila names. I would be forever grateful if I get a break threw.

I have searched the Mexican 1930 Census for the town of Etzatlan in Jalisco, however, I have been unable to find it. Does anyone know if it was filmed? or included in another town's census?

I tried to post my gedcom to this site but it timed out so it's on Rootsweb.com complete with sources but with many approximate dates due to missing years in the records.

I am been researching family ancestors, my g-g-g-g-grandfather's name is Angel Arch from Sayula married Mercedes Gutierres in 1848, but I have not been able to find any decendents...
The Arch family lived in "Hacienda De la Canada Taxunaxtla, Jalisco

As a Jauregui I read your comments and I must say they tickled my funny bone a little. In that it is possible for one man to have spread himself so unselfishly, the probability is low . The church was omnipotent in those days and to allow a man to behave like that is hard to rationalize. Alicia, your relatives' claim may have some truth to it, but I think time has embellished the truth. I found the first Jauregui in the Nochistlan area was, Juan Francisco Jauregui, from San Sebastian, Guipouzcoa, Viscaya, Spain. He married Josefa Chavez de Siordia in Dec 1662 in Nochistlan. They had 10 children, 7 boys and 3 girls. They in turn had large families and by the fifth generation the Jaureguis in the region numbered several hundred. This could be why the oral history has gotten colorful. Yes, one man started the Jauregui line there but not by being a "Don Juan". I DON'T THINK.

I wanted to let you know that I've updated my gedcom on Rootsweb.com. I tried putting it into the gedcom section on this site but it timed out, too large. To get in to my file the easiest way is my grandfathers name and dob. Epitacio Castanon 1894, once there you can go to the index to see the surnames I have in my records. The surnames are mainly from Zacatecas, Jalisco and Michoacan with a few from Colima who married into families in Jalisco. I see so many of the same names and hyphenated names over and over again and have to think our ancestors traveled a lot more than we sometimes give them credit for! I have over 47,000 names and hope they are of use to some of you. If you find errors please let me know so I can make corrections. I do update periodically.

My last posting where I listed names of ancestors marriage records for Guadalajara, I found out from my mother that she has their photos, so I will be able to add those to my album on Nuestros Ranchos, as well. She has a photo of Ysmael Martin del Campo and many others I had not known she had pictures of before.

I hope you all who requested this got an idea in my previous post how life and family was along time ago. I too, find it very awkward and confusing. Well the fact is there wasnt really a rulebook, it was more of a i dont think system is a good word, but it was a...i cant find the word, but system is close enough. Let us take the Camino and Vásquez families. The Caminos from Mariáno or his father Eúgenio. And the Vásquez from Pablo Básquez-Ruíz de Esparza. Mariáno had 13 children and Pablo had 8. Lets say, a María Camino married José Básquez. and Salvador Camino married Mariána Básquez. Each Camino or Básquez are siblings. María Camino's daughter Josefina Básquez would marry her cousin Pancho Camino, son of Salvador and Mariána. Each family at least married once or twice in thier own family. But never with their identical cousin, like if Salvador Camino and Celso Camino, children were two marry, it wouldnt take place. It had to be children of sibling of the opposite gender. Like Salvador and María Camino's children were able to marry. We think maybe this was dont because the same gender of parents would cause the children to deform? Im not sure either. Then their children started to marry within other family like the Robles, García and Rentería families. The other families also followed this system of opposite gender siblings. 30 years later we had Camino marrying a Camino and a Camino marrying a García, the Camino child of the first would married the other coples Camino child then Camino Camino...so on...Another reason why our family did this is because the main original pueblo of the Hacienda, was in the Valley, which is 20 miles from the capital of Huanusco.
