...and I contend that their is no discord between science or the
bible...simply gaps we don't understand....as in genealogy...only educated guesses when
one comes to a dead end of recorded history (and I do underscore HIStory).

Genealogy and the bible

Some points made on this. Just had to put my two cents in as this subject intrigues me. The old Testament is made up of extensive genealogies. Adam was supposed to have lived 500 + years I believe. It seems these earlier men lived a long time and over time our life span decreased. It says in the Bible modern man's lifespan in 120 years. Just recently, I have heard some scientists say there is no reason why we cannot all live to 120. Hmmm. Also, we have changed calendar systems a few times and there is a debate on how many years b.c. that Adam was created.

Anyway there has long been a debate between science and religion. In a college Great Issues class, I studied this subject. If any one is interested, there are a couple of articles, one written by Galileo and the other by Albert Einstein that really debate the subject intelligently: They are "Letter to Madame Christina of Lorraine, Grand Duchess of Tuscany" is Galileo and his take is that when there is a conflict between science and the Bible, it usually is because the Bible is interpreted incorrectly and the Bible never speaks an untruth. That among other things, it is an article worth reading. Einstein's is "Out of My Later Years" his chapter on Science and Religion. Einstein believed that science aids religion and no matter the findings of science, there is alway a place for religion. Anyway two great articles and a must read if you are interested in the subject.
