Hola amigos,
I am looking for some good menu ideas/recommendations for Easter dinner.
We are going to attempt making tamales (California style). And there will be frijoles. But I am looking for additional side dishes.
We haven't attempted such a menu in a few years (and then I had the expert assistance of my sister to make the tamales, but she can't be here this year).
If you have any good ideas, could you please share. Gracias.

A Mexican Easter Dinner

Tamales and beans are rather heavy fare, so I would suggest keeping the side dishes light, such as Spanish Rice, Caesar salad, chunks of cantaloupe with strawberries, fruit drinks.

A Mexican Easter Dinner

Hola!!

I live in México City and we do not have anything special for easter, but I
suggest some tacos of "Barbacoa of lamb" or tamales of barbacoa and Nopales
salad or Nopalitos

I agree with Emile, the tamales are rather heavy, here when we eat tamales
we dont have any additional dishes, we make a lot of different kinds of
tamales (mole, verde, rajas and for sweet the pink ones with raisins) and
for drinks chocolate or atole.

But I guess if you want some kind of salad the Nopales should be a good
sidedish.

A Mexican Easter Dinner

Hola, Patricia,

How neat that you live in Mexico City. I was a visitor there in the late
1990's for a few days on a business trip. I enjoyed it very much. The city
is so vibrant, so historical. I hope one day to return.

A Mexican Easter Dinner

It´s a great city to live in, but quite caotic, you should come again now
its prettier because the goverment and the private sector had spent a lot
of money in remodelation of historic buildings
