  • General Digest, Vol 51, Issue 2

Hello Alice,

I have a copy of the only two volumes that have been published to
date--Volumes 1 and 2.

The first volume covers the history and social study of the original
Spanish settlers of Los Altos de Jalisco. The area is comprised of 26
municipalities in the State of Jalisco. It contains a few pedigree tables
and genealogical facts, but it is more of a narrative on the history and
only mentions individuals in their historical context as needed.

The second volume contains the genealogies of the first settlers. Each
chapter begins with the first Spaniard to settle in the area and lists each
generation descended from that first couple. Some families are traced all
the way to the 1900's. The chapters are in alphabetical order, as John
Schmal describes in his post, ending with Gomez de Mendoza. The third
volume was to continue alphabetically beginning with Gomez de Portugal, but
hasn't been published to date.

If you are doing research in any of those municipalities in Jalisco, I
highly recommend these books.
