when I was in Mexico in 2003 we went to El Limon, Jalisco since my cousins husbands family had lived there (Santana) He was looking for a marriage record for his gr-grandmother that was not online.  The priest said no and then they discovered they were cousins so he had the girl bring out the book wrapped in cellophane.. When he opened the book the pages turned to dust in front of us.. it broke our hearts.. we had him seal it up again.
We should be so grateful for the great number of records that are available to us.
