When things get hectic, I tend to let several days worth of postings go unread until I make the time to go back and read them. Consequently, I always seem to find many entries of great interest. I must admit, however, that I often only skim the postings that are in Spanish because of my impatience with my facility in the language.
I have been following some of the comments of new researchers, and I have a question for the new researchers:
Quick - HOW MANY great-great grandparents do you have? No counting on fingers. This is a number you should know in order to see the whole picture of your family. Understanding this number helps you plan how to proceed in your research.
I have yet to find all the great grand-parents of my father, Jose de Jesus Garcia/Castro (Garcia was surname at Baptism; Castro was surname at death. Surname changed at time of immigration to U.S.), who by the way, would have celebrated his 100th birthday on Jan 13.
Back to my stall in research - sometimes life gets in the way.
I am grateful for all the stalwart researchers who continue the hunt; your postings are inspiring, and I hope to be able to resume researching sometime this year.

One line I am researching is the DUENAS (tilde over the N) family, who lived in the Valparaiso district of Zacatecas (Hacienda del Astillero [1912], Hcda San Mateo [1887], Hcda San Miguel [1889] ), and also in Sombrete (marriage doc dated 1853).
Research records are in the "Files" section of NR. Does anyone else have a DUENAS connection?

Blessings to all in this new year.
