I'm confused by all this that has been posted with reference to not knowing
or not having the time... I have found that all one needs to do is post a
message requesting help... and the flood gates open up, sending helpers
rushing to one's aid...

Maybe if we knew who the members were that needed help we/the group could
help.
Is it possible to make a listing of the individuals that have not submitted
"at least something," ie: the names of their parents, the known area of
research, any information that initially lead them to believe that
NuestrosRanchos was the list group for them. If a pedigree is not posted
how are we to know who needs help or even if there's a possible common
ancestor.
Sorry if I'm going in circles with this posting, or even being my outspoken
self, but I feel that if an individual found this list group; went through
the process of contacting the moderator and then following the instructions
on how to beable to access the various files, they must have had some
knowledge and desire to learn about their Mexican ancestors.

I am with you 100 percent. I think part of Joseph's frustration has been
that people joined and then we never heard from them. Nobody is expecting a
genealogical tree going back to the 1600s but in order for the group to be
useful, people need to provide at least the basic information that they have
on hand as well as what research they have done and sources they have
searched.

The information posted by Alice is a great example of what new members
should do soon after joining.

We are all here to help each other but if people do not share information,
the point of the group becomes moot.

I fully support Joseph's move to reduce his workload and restrict membership
a bit more. After all, the messages and archives are available without
membership so anyone who wants to peruse and look for general information
can do so without being a member.

I strongly encourage all of the new members to share whatever information
you have available as well as any questions you may have or brick walls that
you have run into. We all learn from helping each other.

Voluteer Opportunities: was-Membership Requirements

Pat,

thanks for the positive input that you have experienced in the Nuestros
Ranchos group. I wish I could do more, but . . .

great suggestion, BUT. . .I'm already strained with the work I'm
contributing to the NR group. This suggestion could only happen if I not
only get a volunteer for the first project I suggested, but also a
couple of more as the projects are lined up waiting to get done.

sorry but your project will have to wait until I find 2-3 voluteers to
take up some of the projects.
