Hello

Desperately seeking the marriage record (image) of

Leonardo Romo and Josefa Trinidad.

They are padrinos for a child of Manuel Romo and Maria Ygnacia Rodriguez, and I would very much like to see who the parents of Leonardo are.
Family search gives their marriage as follows:

04 Feb 1824
Nuestra Senora De La Victoria,Nadadores,Coahuila,Mexico
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JZJB-ZQB

But when I go to the book for marriages at that place and time, the entry is not there:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11594-41481-92?cc=1410092&…

Am I looking in the wrong place? The film number is 222404, but the first image of this series of records does not provide the image...

Any good advice?

There are lots of Raphael Romos in and around Aguascalientes, and I am still trying to find out which one was the father of Manuel Romo, resident of Nadadores/San Buenaventura, but originally from Aguascalientes, he was my direct ancestor. Finding out info about Leonardo may help....there were several with that name in Family Search, so I really need to see the image!

Regards,
Denise

Leonardo Romo, Josefa Trinidad, Rafael Romo, Ma. Urvana Cruz

Thank you very much Armando! It did not occur to me that the entries would not always be in chronological order. I can see that on image 66 there is an entry for June and two entries for January....But now I have learned to check beyond where I would expect to find the entry. Lesson learned!

For anyone out there interested in Leonardo Romo who married Ma. Josefa Trinidad:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-267-11594-39727-82?cc=1410092&…
date: 04 Feb 1824
place: Nuestra Senora de la Victoria, Nadadores, Coahuila
Leonardo Romo, orig. de Aguascalientes, leg. son of Rafael Romo and Maria Urvana de la Cruz
Ma. Josefa Trinidad, (no origen noted), leg. dau. of Tomas Trinidad and Maria Ricarda Abila
Padrinos: Maximo Abila and Ma. Ygnacia (? last name hard to read)

Denise

Leonardo Romo

As I posted some months ago, there is a record for a batism of a José Leonardo, son of Jose Rafael Romo and Juana Maria Lopez (daughter of Geronimo Lopez and Maria Ylaria Sapata). This baptism is dated 10/nov/1802 in Salinas, San Luis Potosi.

Juana Maria Lopez died and was buried on 14/jan/1803 and Rafael Romo soon remarried (7/may/1803 with Maria Urbana Lira).

I guess that your Leonardo Romo and this one are very probably the same person. He must have been raised by Urbana Lira and she became his true mother.

Leonardo Romo

Hello Bernardo

Thanks for your reply! Your previous post was useful (I had seen it). I am very interested in your ideas. It would explain the other link I found between Raphael and Urbana, and Manuel Romo (padrinos of each others children). Leonardo, Raphael Romo from SLP, (don) Raphael Romo from AGS, and Manuel Romo from AGS all link up somehow in family tree,I just havent figured it out yet.

Incidentally, I have antecedants from SLP (Salas) through my grandmother...thats another story! But I will definitely check out the marriage record of Rafael and Ma. Urb. Lira. and the death record of Juana M Lopez. There maybe some useful info there.

Here is the link which mentions Leonardo Romo (with Ma. Josefa Trinidad)as padrino for Manuel and Ma. Ygnacias son Francisco in 1829

Leonardo Romo, parents and grandparents, caste

Here is the link for the baptism of Leonardo Romo for anyone who may need it, grandparents are noted:

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-20128-8054-73?cc=1860864&…

This is interesting! Leonardo Romo is noted as spanish, while later children of his father, Raphael, and second wife Ma. Urbana Lira, are noted as mestiza and india.

Denise

Romo and/or Femate

Yes Denise, this story gets interesting.

Rafael's surname is Romo in the Salinas records:

+ Baptism of Leonardo, son of Rafael with his wife Juana Maria Lopez (daughter of Geronimo Lopez and Maria Ylaria Sapata)
+ Burial of Juana Maria Lopez
+ Marriage of Rafael with Maria Urvana Lira
+ Baptisms of several of Rafael's offspring with wife Urvana Lira

But his surname was Femate in the Ojocaliente (Zacatecas) records:

+ Información matrimonial pertaining to his marriage with Juana Maria Lopez (daughter of Geronimo Lopez and Maria Ylaria Zapata)

So for some reason he changed his surname.

The Información Matrimonial of Ojocaliente is dated 3/Sept/1801. I didn't take the precaution of noting the link to the image in familysearch but downloaded the images. If you are interested in them I can e-mail them to you. By the way, in this Información Matrimonial it is stated that he was "viudo en segundas nupcias de Joaquina de Salas" who was buried in the city of Zacatecas. It seems he was unlucky enough to have to bury at least three wives. I'm still searching for more records, now in Zacatecas.

Saludos,
