Does anyone know Lope Ruiz de Esparza's genealogy I need help. I found a source it said his father or grandfather (too many named Lope) Was Lord of Esparza in the city of Esparza they had lived in the Palace of the Esparza. Is this true? Any help is appreciated. -Daniel Mendez Camino

Lord of Esparza (Senor de Esparza)

David,
According to documents I've seen, this is true. He is said to have
been Lord of the palaces of Esparza and Zariquiegui in Navarra.
Somehow, I can't remember without my notes, his father/grandfather was
also supposed to be allied with or close to the Beaumonts of Navarra.

I have info on this family only as far as his grandparents, I believe,
in the late 1490s. It's what's been available from Jaime Holcombe's
submissions to LDS.

I visited the Archbishop's research office in Pamplona in 2003, but
the time allotted is so minimal that you really have to visit for a
few days straight to really find anything. I did find one of the
parishes his family visited, but I did not find anything concrete on
him or close family.

Hope this helps...or at least piques your interest a bit more. :-)
