The river "Rio de la mololoa" was the same "Rio de Santa Maria" but the "Hacienda de la Mololoa " is not the same "Hacienda de Santa Maria", booth located on the same river. "Santa Maria" hacienda was aprox. at latitude, longitude : 21.4275, -102.188 (You can search with these coordinates in googlemaps.com) and the "la Mololoa" hacienda must be in unknoed point at noreast, by de small river (which starts approximately at 21.568, -102.0 coordinates)

(Sorry for my english)
Regards from Encarnacion de Diaz.

Hola Miguel,

Baptismal Record translation help/question

Hello Monica

La Mololoa is not a town. It is/was a ranch or community or hacienda that I
have seen mentioned in many baptisms and marriages for Lagos. I have
contacted several relatives in Lagos by phone to ask about this place. Since
none of them knew offhand and I couldn't get a hold of two uncles that might
know we'll have to wait for a cousin to investigate and get back with me
about the exact location and size of this place.

If you notice some of the baptisms say La Mololoa and some mention Río de
Santa María. If you read a website about Encarnación de Díaz there is a
María" which served as the limits of Teocaltiche, Jalostotitlán, Santa María
The ranch would have been next
to el Río de La Mololoa probably close to Encarnación de Díaz since that is
where many of your ancestors are from.

The website is

Saludos.

Thanks

Armando,

I have seen Rio de Sta Ma. on certificates & I did not realize they were the same place thank you for the info. Please share what you find from your Lagos relatives if you will, I am fascinated with where all of this research is taking me.

Thanks again!

All the best,
Monica Ochoa

Molola

This name intrigued me, so I did a little research.

There was a publication called the United States Investor, in volume 33, number 1, in 1922, there is a little information about the mining stock (not encouraging!) in two Mexican mines: El Favor and Molola. Unfortunately,it doesn't say where the mines are. Here's the url

http://books.google.com/books?id=Y_4gAQAAMAAJ&pg=RA1-PA34&lpg=RA1-PA34&…

The Engineering and Mining Journal, vol 96, no. 4, 1913, has little bit more. Under the heading of Guadalajara, it talks about some work being done at the El Favor and Molola mines: they built a high wall around the mine because of bandits. They have high grade ore (gold and silver) being shipped to Aguascalientes. Here's the url

http://books.google.com/books?id=FJEgAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA184&lpg=PA184&dq=el+…

Neither source says where the mine is. Since your baptismal register is from Lagos de Morena, it has to be in that area.

Your people could have been miners. Some people came from the Aguascalientes area to southern Arizona to work in the copper mines there.

On a side issue: I found a company that has an El Favor Mining Company stock certificate for sale. It is dated 1906 (they want $63.00 for it).
