What were the population estimates for La Barca, Jalisco in the 1800's, or for the state of Jalisco. I am interested to know how the population explosion of the past 30 years has led to such a lot of different people from other parts of the country. If anybody has any information on Adeleida Lopez Camarena born in La Barca, Jalisco in 1856 please let me know.I also am lloking for the line that include Rosa Garcia and Juan Lopes.

La Barca, Jalisco

Daniel:

The Garcia Cubas atlas of Mexico of 1858 is the most beautiful and comprehensive geographical works of Mexico from the 19th century. There is a two leaf compilation for each state which includes economic, demographic and geographic information around a color map of the state.

You can find the Jalico map from the atlas online at David Rumsey Digital Map Collection:

Do a keyword search for Jalisco.

It lists the population of the canton of La Barca at 106,868 with the population of the municipality of La Barca within that canton at 52,747 and the population of Tepatitlan within that canton at 54,121.

I hope that helps.
