Efrain,

The site is actually http://search.labs.familysearch.org (URL may change
someday) not www.familysearch.org It is a new site, which will host all the
digitally published collections of the Family History Dept./FamilySearch. The
site is in testing mode (about 7,000) users at current time.

You should also be aware that the 1930 Mexican census will be indexed soon too.
It will become an available indexing project on
http://www.familysearchindexing.org I hope everyone helps index it once it
becomes available, which should be sooner than later.

Lynn

Etzatlan and the 1930 census (Brady Umfleet

Lynn,

I am one of those (7,000) Beta testers of the Pilot for FamilySearch Labs'
"Record Search", and when Brady indicated his accessing the 1930 Mexico
Census data at familysearch.org , it raised a question about an alternate
way to consult this census that I might not have been aware.

Those focusing on Jalisco may want to note that, officially, the State of
Jalisco is divided/composed of 126 "municipalities" and, for personal
assistance in my continuing research through Jalisco and Mexico records, I
have compiled a comparison listing of those Jalisco municipalities
presently listed in the "Record Search Browse Collection" of the 1930
Mexico Census being tested.

The Jalisco portion of the Browse Collection in the Pilot includes 107 of
these municipalities, with 29 not listed in the Collection (missing or
"lost" as you previously very ably indicated), and 6 areas that I will call
"comarcas" that are not designated as official municipalities (Amatitan,
Arenal, Ayo el Chico, Ciudad Guzman, Purificacion, and Villa Obregon).

In the near and anxiously-awaited future, Mexico genealogy researchers will
have available a very important new tool with the ability to consult and
view online images of its1930 census records. We can all be very thankful
to the LDS Church for this project and all of its Family History efforts, -
- - and to Lynn for her interest in keeping the Nuestros Ranchos 'family'
informed about this program, and her clarifications and updates.
