Where can we get information on Haciendas of Zacatecas? Heavens, I've
tried and there's some but it's as easy as finding hen's teeth.

Haciendas in Zacatecas

Marge,

I have information on some of the haciendas in Zacatecas. Which ones are you interested in? What part of Zacatecas? What type of information are you interested in? What years? Can you read Spanish?

I have material both in Spanish and Enlish. Some are formal journal articles or books, others are from materials I have been able to gleen from Zacatecas web sites or from present day local Mexican "historians." I may or may not have information that will help you.

Haciendas in Zacatecas

95 percent of my grandmother's maternal ancestry is in Jerez. One of
her ancestresses was Agueda del Rio (aka de la Torre and/or de los
Rios) and her dispensa de matrimonio was given at the hacienda de San
Antonio de los Griegos en la feligresia de El Ojo Caliente. Which is
all Greek to me.:) Why would they sign this dispensation in Ojo
Caliente? Anyway, have you any information on this? Thank you. I
also wholeheartedly agree with Joseph that it would be a kindness to
all your primos/primas if you'd upload some of the data to our files
(whichever one Joseph said). Thank you very much. Marge:)

Jerez and de la Torre

Marge,

I will put the Jerez material in folder section. Somehow it is not as easy to upload stuff as last site but nevertheless I will do so. However, I have a ton of material on Jerez courtesy of various genealogists (de la Torre and Hoyo). Since it is pain to put all of this in, I would rather have you tell me what years or centuries you are interested in. The de la Torre apellido is often found in these documents. It seems pointless to upload all I have if you are specifically interested in a particular time frame.

For me it is a time issue but I would like to help.

I also have the book, "Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara Antiguo Obispado de la Nueva Galicia, Expedientes de la serie de Matrimonios extractos Siglos XVII-XVIII." This book lists marriage dispensations in the 17th and 18th Century in some of the "RANCHOS" areas, e.g. Aguacalientes, Valparaiso, etc. It is indexed for names. Agueda del Rio or de la Torre was not listed.
