  • Breakthrough, now a question
By ArturoG | Wed, 2010-12-29 20:13

Dear Friends,
I had a brickwall in Jalpa with Jose Maria Gonzalez (JMG Jr) and his wife Julia Casillas.

I found genealogy trees in the Informacion Matrimoniales (IMs) for Jalpa and discovered that the mother of JMG was Petra Eledesma and his father was Jose Maria Gonzalez (JMG Sr). Petra's father was Estevan Eledesma according to the genealogical tree. You can find a JPEG of these tree (TroncoJMG.jpg) in my Files. I found a wedding for a "Estevan Eledesma" in Tabasco (April 16, 1792).

I am pretty sure that this wedding refers to the father or, more likely, brother of Petra as I don't know Petra's mother's name from the IMs.

Does anyone have any information on Estevan Eledesma?

I had a hard time reading the wedding record for him. I couldn't figure out some of the abbreviations and names. You can find the entry in the upper-left hand corner:
http://www.nuestrosranchos.org/filemanager/active?fid=3658

I'm uncertain about the following, but these are the details I was able to read:
"a Esteven Eledesma con Maria Simona dela Guera??. P?? Jose Freto?? y Maria Antta. Testigos Juan Lu?iano y Carmen Megia?"

I thought that "Guera" might also be an abbreviation for "Guanusco".

Saludos y prospero año nuevo,
Arturo

Breakthrough, now a question

Hi Arturo,

Regards to your question, it's definately Maria Simona Guerra. It also states they were spanish
so you might have some work to do in this area. Padrinos are Juan Lusiano and Carmen Megia (Mejia)

This couple also baptized as son in Mecatabasco, place where I have lots of lines in and out of the
area.

Jose Casildo Eledesma Guerra
Baptized 23 apr 1795 in Mecatabasco, Tabasco, Zacatecas

Since the parents are not listed you might want to try the informaciones matrimoniales for Tabasco
in your case, in hopes to extend this line.

Parents of Estevan Eledesma

Daniel,
Right now there's some uncertainty about how the pieces of the puzzle fit together. From the Troncos, I know that Estevan and Leandro Eledesma are brothers.

I've been able to fill in the details of the Leandro branch of the Eledesma tronco I had found:
Leandro (E)Ledesma (dob ?), married Maria Leonor Velasco sometime before 1776 as that's the earliest year for which I've found a child of theirs, Josef Antonio Marcelo Ledesma Belasques. Leandro and Leonor had Juana Eledesma Velasco on 19 Sep 1784, and she married Jose Maria Godoy on 05 Jun 1802. Juana and Godoy had Jose Felipe Godoy Eledesma on 15 Sep 1820. Felipe Godoy marries Maria Carmen Viramontes, and they have Priscilina Godoy in La Villlita, Zacatecas around 1844.

But what isn't clear is which of the two "Estevan Eledesma" I've located is Leandro's brother. My guess is that it is NOT the one I had previously asked about (the wedding record). If we go by Leandro's marriage date information, then his brother Estevan married around the same time. In other words, the Estevan I asked about is the son of the Estevan in the Tronco.

The elder Estevan Eledesma married Maria Encarnacion de Alba approx. before 1769. Some of their children are:
- Jph. Migl. Ledesma Alba, 21 May 1769.
- Jph. Esmeregildo Ledesma Alva, 09 Sep 1772
- Joseph Maria Cleofas Ledesma, 03 Oct 1774
- Josef Andres Avelion Ledesma Alba, 19 Nov 1779
- Petra Eledesma, dob?, my direct ancestor is probably their daughter

Estevan Eledesma's son, Estevan, married Maria Simona Elias. Simona's parents are Gabriel Elias and Maria Seferina/Maria Del Carmen. So I don't believe that Guerra is Simona's last name. Or perhaps it was her mother's last name? Some of their offspring are:
- Maria Silberia Eledesma Elias, 22 Jun 1800
- Maria Merced Eledesma, 26 Sep 1801.
- Maria Marcela Eledesma Elias, 12 Oct 1803

I will take a look again at the Jalpa marriage records to see if there is further details.

Arturo
